Another man - another woman (original title: Un autre homme, une autre chance ) is a fictional film by Claude Lelouch , set in a western setting , which saw its first screening in Germany on October 28, 1977.

The young Jeanne falls in love with the photographer Francis around 1870 in Paris, plunged into poverty by Napoleon and besieged by the Germans. The two of them travel to the land of their dreams, America, on an emigrant ship. The emigrants have some adventures, finally open a photo shop and Jeanne gives birth to a daughter. In the New World, David, a veterinarian, lives on a small ranch with his wife Mary and son Simon. Mary, who is very unhappy in her marriage, is ambushed and killed there. Francis, now a successful photojournalist, is also murdered for refusing to publish a photo evidence of a lynching. At the boarding school attended by Simon and Mary's daughter Sarah, the two widows meet and decide to make a fresh start together.
