Greetings from the kidnappers (French original title: L'aventure, c'est l'aventure ) is a French - Italian comedy film by the director Claude Lelouch from 1972. A court case sheds light on the classic criminal career of Simon Duroc as a tire thief, Jacques as a smuggler and Lino Massaro as an art forger with her assistants Aldo and Charlot, which began in the mid-1960s. After a few prison stays and “traumatic” experiences (Lino Massaro loses control of 3,000 prostitutes who carry out a general strike as a pimp, Jacques has to invest 60,000 francs in a bank robbery with 100,000 francs loot), they decide together in 1972 to modernize their traditional gangster methods. You take civic education classes and kidnap Johnny Hallyday straight from a concert. He pays his ransom by check himself and can look forward to a lot of publicity in the media.
Next, the Swiss ambassador Armand Herzberg is kidnapped on behalf of the Latin American revolutionary General Ernesto Juarez. Captured revolutionaries will be exchanged for his release. Since Juarez does not want to pay the five kidnappers the agreed wages of 200,000 dollars, he is kidnapped and the ransom demand for 300,000 dollars is sent to the revolutionaries, the army and the CIA at the same time, who all pay and try to get Juarez at the same time. In the subsequent firefight, the hut in which Juarez is imprisoned is destroyed. Then they hijack a Boeing 747 and, while the machine is still in the air, offer themselves to the insurance company as a replacement specialist for two million dollars in cash.
The five kidnappers enjoy their prosperity in the South Pacific, but quickly get bored. With a trick they are kidnapped in turn and face Juarez, who was believed to be dead, and who arranges for them to hand over the stolen money. At the same time, he betrays them to the French judiciary, which is bringing them to trial. For reasons of state, they are allowed to escape the courthouse and are flown to an African country. Here, in consultation with the military, they could take power “next Wednesday” through a coup and earn a lot of money. But they decide to kidnap the Pope, who arrives in the country on Tuesday, and to demand a franc from every Catholic in the world as a ransom, which they succeed in doing.
