Jean Collomb
Jean Collomb (born October 9, 1922 as Jean Eugène Jacques Emptaz-Collomb in Voiron , France , † February 18, 2013 in Paris ) was a French cameraman and short film director.
Live and act
Collomb attended vocational school and then worked in commerce and as a journalist. In the mid-1950s he switched to film. He began as a camera assistant under Jean Isnard and rose to head cameraman in 1960. In this position he initially photographed short films, some of which he also directed, but soon afterwards also full-length feature films.
In 1962 Collomb began his collaboration with Claude Lelouch , which would last for a total of 13 years. During this time he was also responsible for the atmospheric pictures of Lelouch's greatest international success, the melodrama A Man and a Woman . His other camera work is also characterized by an “occasionally flavourful courtesy”.
