Jennie Garth (born April 3, 1972 in Urbana , Illinois ; actually Jennifer Eve Garth ) is an American actress . She was best known for the role of Kelly Taylor in the television series Beverly Hills, 90210 .

life and career

Jennie Garth was born in April 1972 in the US state of Illinois as the youngest daughter of John and Carolyn Garth and grew up for a large part of her childhood with six half-siblings (three on the mother's side, three on the father's side) on a horse ranch near their birthplace Urbana.

At the age of 13, Garth and her family moved to Phoenix , Arizona , where she took dance lessons and started modeling. When Garth was 15 years old, she was discovered by the owner of a casting company on the ABC network in a talent competition and encouraged to become an actress. Then she interrupted high school at the age of 17 and moved with her mother to the film metropolis Los Angeles . She enrolled in an acting school and participated in many auditions . She had her first television appearance in 1989 in the television series Our loud home . The first major role she got after four months in the NBC series A Brand New Life on the side of Barbara Eden .

In 1990 Garth auditioned for the role of Kelly Taylor in a television series planned by Aaron Spelling and Darren Star about the life of a high school clique in upscale Beverly Hills and was hired by the producers. Beverly Hills, 90210 soon became a cult series of the 1990s and made Garth and the other leading actors rise to international series stars. In 1992 Garth received the Young Artist Award for her acting performance in the series . Garth also played the role of Kelly Taylor in three guest appearances on the spin-off series Melrose Place .

In parallel with the filming of Beverly Hills, 90210 , Garth starred in several television films, including Hell on Earth: The Laurie Kellogg Case (1994) and The End of Innocence (1996).

After Beverly Hills, 90210 expired after more than ten successful years, Garth played the role of Valerie Tyler in the sitcom Hello Holly between 2002 and 2006 . The series was canceled after 86 episodes. In 2007 Garth took part in the dance show Dancing with the Stars (adapted in Germany as Let's Dance ), in which she and her dance partner Derek Hough took fourth place.

From 2008 to 2010, Garth was again in the role of Kelly Taylor in the television series 90210 , the second spin off from Beverly Hills, 90210 .

Garth was married to the musician Daniel Clark from 1994 to 1996. In 1996 she met the actor Peter Facinelli while filming the film Blond is Revenge and was married to him from 2001. The couple have three daughters and lived in LA and on a ranch near Santa Barbara . In March 2012, Garth and Facinelli announced their split. In 2014 she met producer Dave Abrams on a blind date, to whom she got engaged in April 2015. The wedding of the two took place on July 11, 2015.

Garth is a convinced vegetarian and is involved with the animal welfare organization PETA .
