The North Hillcrest Road , sometimes referred to as Hillcrest Road called (a South Hill Crest Road is available in Beverly Hills not) is a street in Beverly Hills . It starts in the south on Santa Monica Boulevard , crosses Sunset Boulevard and leads north on Doheny Road into Trousdale Estates , where it ends as a cul-de-sac at the property with number 1187 .
Famous residents
The upper part of the road north of Doheny Road was not created until the 1950s when Trousdale Estates were opened up as a housing estate. Since then, the preferred residential area of the street has shifted to this region. In the 1930s and 1940s, on the other hand, the region south of Sunset Boulevard was considered the preferred residential area for stars and starlets, although very few have returned here since the establishment of Trousdale Estates. In the approximately 300 meter long section between Doheny Road and Sunset Boulevard is the house number 809, which was built in 1928 by the silent film actor Hobart Bosworth (1897–1943) and sold in 1933 to the actor William Powell (1892–1984). In the 1990s the estate was occupied by the actress Diane Keaton (* 1946).
South of Sunset Boulevard
The composer and film producer Sylvia Fine (1913–1991) once lived at number 500, the first house at the beginning of North Hillcrest Road, just north of Santa Monica Boulevard . Your immediate neighbor was the saxophonist Freddy Martin (1906-1983), who also lived under the number 502 as after him in the 1940s the director Howard Hawks (1896-1977). North of Doheny Road
In the first section between Doheny Road and Drury Lane lived the director and film producer Stanley Kramer (1913-2001) under number 906 in the 1970s, the British musician Ringo Starr (* 1940) under number 918 and the actor Bud Cort (* 1948) under number 924. Lot number 933 was the location of the television series Beverly Hills, 90210 .
Immediately northwest of the junction of Drury Lane , with about 100 meters the shortest connection to Loma Vista Drive running west , is the property at number 1001, which was once inhabited by the singer, actress and golfer Dinah Shore (1916-1994). Across the street is the property at number 1004, built in 1970 by architect Hal Levitt in 1972 and purchased on November 3, 2006 for $ 13.5 million by actress, film producer and director Jennifer Aniston (* 1969). About 250 meters further north and about 100 meters before the junction of Wallace Ridge is the property with the number 1083, where the actor and comedian Groucho Marx resided from 1957 until his death in 1977. Actress, singer and model Carmen Electra (* 1972) lived in the villa directly opposite at number 1082 . The property is to the rear and below the property numbered 1174, which served as the second home of Elvis Presley (1935–1977) between 1967 and 1973 .
The geographical proximity of these two properties is made possible by the curvature of the street, which in its extreme north takes place approximately at the junction of Barrie Drive or the property opposite it at number 1100, where North Hillcrest Road bends around 180 degrees having. The architect and writer Frank Lloyd Wright (1867–1959) spent the last months of his life under number 1098 near its northernmost point .
The Canadian comedian, actor and voice impersonator Kevin McDonald (* 1961) bought the property with the number 1122 in 2001. The English actress lived next door between the 1950s and the 1980s under number 1124 Binnie Barnes (1903-1998) with her husband, the American film producer Mike Frankovitch (1909-1992).
The last house on the right-hand side of the street is the aforementioned property with number 1174, which Elvis Presley acquired in 1967 for 400,000 US dollars and which he moved into immediately after his marriage to his wife Priscilla Presley (* 1945). The villa, built in 1958, had four bedrooms, five bathrooms, a dining room and living room, as well as a guest house and a carport for four cars. The newly wed couple wanted to make themselves really comfortable in this house and therefore commissioned the well-known interior designer Tom Lane. In contrast to Presley's main residence, Graceland , the villa here was furnished with the finest of furniture. In December 2012 the founder of Hard Rock Cafe , Peter Morton, bought the property and demolished the house that Presley once lived in.
At the end of North Hillcrest Road is the property at number 1187, which makes the street a dead end. The house, also known as Villa Roisa , was inhabited by the actor Danny Thomas (1912–1991), who also died there.
