history
The first Sparklehorse album Vivadixiesubmarinetransmissionplot was released in 1995 and was able to place itself in the English charts. On his 1996 tour of England, Linkous suffered a breakdown due to an overdose of Valium, antidepressants and alcohol. He was unconscious for 14 hours and clinically dead for two minutes. After surgery and recovery, the album Good Morning Spider was released in October 1998 .
In his career, Sparklehorse worked with various well-known musicians both on projects and on his albums. On It's a Wonderful Life , the band's third album (2001), he accompanies a. a. Nina Persson (of The Cardigans ), Vic Chesnutt , PJ Harvey and Tom Waits as guest vocalists.
In 2006 the last official Sparklehorse album Dreamt for Light Years in the Belly of a Mountain was released. He then took part in an album by music producer and musician DJ Danger Mouse . This collaboration was continued in an independent collaboration: DJ Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse produced the album Dark Night of the Soul in early 2009 , which was released on July 9, 2010.
On March 6, 2010, Linkous, 47, shot himself in the heart with his own gun behind a friend's house in Knoxville, Tennessee.
