Martha Plimpton
Martha Campbell Plimpton (born November 16, 1970 in New York City , New York ) is an American actress .
Life
Plimpton attended an acting class at the age of eight. Two years later, in 1981, she got a minor role in The Rollover Conspiracy and starred in a number of Calvin Klein commercials. She had her first major role in Only Death Is Free , followed by The Goonies , Mosquito Coast and The Flight into the Unknown . She has been nominated repeatedly at the Young Artist Awards .
Since the late 1990s, she has played mainly in television productions such as the Defenders series or television series such as Emergency Room and Criminal Intent . In 2002 she was nominated for an Emmy Award for her performance in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit . In 2005 she wrote an episode screenplay for the series A Heavenly Family , in which she also appeared in an episode in front of the camera in 2004.
Plimpton has also appeared repeatedly on the stage , making her debut in 1996 with the Steppenwolf Theater Company in The Libertine . As a member of this ensemble, she was awarded the National Medal of Arts in autumn 1998 . She has played on Broadway since 2004 and has been repeatedly nominated for a Tony Award for her performance .
From 2010 to 2014, Plimpton starred as Virginia Chance on the sitcom Raising Hope . For this role, she received an Emmy nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy Series in 2011 .
Plimpton's parents are actors Keith Carradine and Shelley Plimpton. Her grandfather is John Carradine . She is the niece of Michael Bowen , David Carradine and Robert Carradine, and the cousin of actresses Ever Carradine and Kansas Carradine.
