How to Make It in America is an American comedy - drama that its first broadcast on 14 February 2010 at the US cable channel HBO had. The series follows the lives of main character Ben Epstein ( Bryan Greenberg ) and friend Cam Calderon ( Victor Rasuk ) in their efforts to break into New York’s fashion scene .

The series follows the lives of two men trying to find their way into the New York fashion scene in order to fulfill their own personal American dream . In their endeavor to make a name for themselves in the highly competitive scene, Ben Epstein and his business partner Cam Calderon primarily use their “street wisdom” and their relationships to help. With the help of her buddy Domingo, who has many relationships, and Cam's cousin René, a previously convicted and seedy figure from the street scene, the dream seems to be within reach and getting closer from day to day.

The series was broadcast for the first time on February 14, 2010 by US television station HBO in the 2009/2010 season. Eight episodes were ordered for the first season. On April 21, 2010, a second season with eight episodes was ordered. This second season began airing on October 2 and ended on November 20, 2011. As HBO announced in December 2011, there will be no third season.
The German-language first broadcast of the first season was broadcast from January 9 to February 27, 2013 on the pay-TV channel Sky Atlantic HD . The second season was shown immediately afterwards from March 6 to April 24, 2013.
