Reviews

Desson Howe wrote in the Washington Post on December 6, 2002 that the film was terrible. Nothing positive could be said about him. The film lives only from the two main actors, because "the two stars toss each other punch lines like clowns the cakes". In the opinion of Patrick Hamann from Filmstarts.de, the role of Dr. Ben Sobel with Billy Crystal again "has a terrific cast and impresses with dry humor". The sequel doesn't even come close to the first part, "but the film is fun, which is also due to the great supporting actors". The Neue Zürcher Zeitung writes: “Mere slapstick is avoided in favor of wit and sharp-talkedness. The comedy works according to the snowball principle: Each situation comedy escalates into the next one. The film stands in the tradition of the so-called screwball comedies , for which sophisticated dialogues are more important than cheap jokes and which prefer a coherent atmosphere to the shrill effect. "The lexicon of international films says:" Continuation of a successful comedy [...] that does has the same leading actors, but is far less amusing. Overall, a rather tired infusion with sparse gags, which at best continues the cinematic decline of the Italian mafia to a shooting gallery figure. "

background

  • The film grossed US $ 32.1 million in cinemas in the United States - far less than just nerve-wracking with over US $ 100 million.
  • The series Little Caesar appearing in the film is a reference to the gangster film The Little Caesar from 1931.
  • This film was the last shot by Joe Viterelli , who died two years later .
