Aidan Quinn
Aidan Quinn (born March 8, 1959 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American actor .
Life
Aidan Quinn comes from an Irish family. His father was a professor of literature, his older brother Declan is a cameraman, and his younger sister Marian is an actress and director. He grew up at times in Belfast , Dublin and other Irish cities. At the age of 19 he was already playing in a theater in Chicago. He graduated from Rockford West High School and then DePaul University , where he studied drama.
For his role in the television film Early Frost (1985), one of the first dramas to deal with the subject of AIDS , Quinn appeared alongside Gena Rowlands and Ben Gazzara and was nominated for an Emmy for it. He took on a bigger role in the 1986 film Mission, alongside Robert De Niro and Jeremy Irons . A year later he played the villain in the hit film The Night Has Many Eyes . Quinn starred in the 1993 film Benny and Joon alongside Johnny Depp and Mary Stuart Masterson , and in 1994 in Legends of Passion alongside Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins . He was nominated for a Blockbuster Entertainment Award for his role in the fantasy film The Magic Sisters , in which he starred alongside Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock in 1998 .
In 2001 Aidan Quinn was supposed to play the captain and marine conservationist Paul Watson in the film Ocean Warrior . Due to financial problems, the film was never produced. However, in preparation for the film, Aidan Quinn had accompanied Paul Watson on one of his ships and has been supporting his marine conservation organization Sea Shepherd ever since .
From 2012 to 2019 he was seen as Captain Thomas Gregson in 154 episodes of the popular American crime series Elementary alongside Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu .
In addition to his film and television engagements, Aidan Quinn also appeared in several theater productions for the Goodman Theater Acting Company and the Steppenwolf Theater Company in Chicago.
Quinn has been married to actress Elizabeth Bracco since 1987 and they have two daughters together.
