Alice Terry , actually Alice Frances Taafe , (born July 24, 1899 in Vincennes , Indiana , † December 22, 1987 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American actress of the silent film era .

Career

Alice Terry began her film career with Triangle in 1916, but it was only after her marriage to director Rex Ingram that she became a star, now under contract with Metro Studios. Her cool beauty and ladylike appearance showed her off to best advantage alongside Latin lovers like Rudolph Valentino in The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and Ramón Novarro , with whom she played in The Arab , Scaramouche and Lovers? performed together.

Terry starred almost exclusively in her husband's films, so her career never reached the heights it could have aspired to. Since the mid-1920s she lived with her husband on the Riviera, where Ingram had set up his own film studio. The sound film ended her career. Since Ingram's death, Terry has lived secluded in Hollywood.

The actress died of natural causes on December 22, 1987.
