Johanna Schall
Johanna Schall (born September 19, 1958 in Berlin ) is a German actress and theater director .
Life
The daughter of Barbara Brecht-Schall and Ekkehard Schall and granddaughter of Helene Weigel and Bertolt Brecht began her theater training in Berlin in 1980. The costume designer Jenny Schall is her sister. She had her first permanent engagement as an actress from 1982 to 1984 at the Kleist Theater in Frankfurt (Oder) . Johanna Schall was a member of the ensemble of the Deutsches Theater in Berlin from 1984 to 1997 .
She began working as a theater director in 1993 and has performed in this capacity at the theaters in Leipzig , Dresden , Chemnitz , Karlsruhe , Berlin and Bremen . From 2002 to 2007 she was the acting director at the Volkstheater Rostock and then a year guest lecturer at the University of Toronto . Since then she has been working as a freelance director again.
