Leah Rhodes
Leah Rhodes (* 21st July 1902 in Port Arthur , Texas ; † 17th October 1986 in Point Pleasant , West Virginia ) was an American costume designer who in 1950 the Oscar for Best Costume Design in the color film Adventures of Don Juan ( 1948) from Vincent Sherman .
Life
Leah Rhodes began her career as a costume designer in film productions in 1939 with the film The Monroe Doctrine by Crane Wilbur and has worked in the equipment of around 80 films over the course of her career. At the Academy Awards in 1950, she and William Travilla and Marjorie Best received the Oscar for best costume design for the 1948 film The Love Adventures of Don Juan by Vincent Sherman. Other well-known films with costumes designed by her were Dead Sleep tight (1946) by Howard Hawks , The Stranger on the Train (1951) by Alfred Hitchcock , The Fox (1967) by Mark Rydell and the late Western Rio Lobo (1970) by Howard Hawks.
