Samuel "Sam" George Claflin (born June 27, 1986 in Ipswich , Suffolk , England ) is a British actor .

Life

Sam Claflin is the son of a financial advisor and a school assistant. He made his acting debut in the multi-part television series The Pillars of the Earth as Richard von Shiring . In the fourth part of the Pirates of the Caribbean series, Pirates of the Caribbean - On Stranger Tides , he plays the missionary Philip in a supporting role . Sam Claflin has been married to British actress Laura Haddock since July 2013 . In late December 2015, Haddock gave birth to the couple's first child, a boy. A second child, a girl, was born in early January 2018. The separation was announced in August 2019.
