Zuckerbaby is a German comedy from 1985 by Percy Adlon (director and screenplay, co-writer: Gwendolyn von Ambesser ) with Marianne Sägebrecht and Eisi Gulp in the leading roles.

action

The 38-year-old, overweight Marianne works in the funeral home Ruhesanft as a gravedigger. Their life consists of their work, food and television in bed. When she hears the voice of the driver Huber in the Munich subway , she immediately falls in love with him. In detailed detective work, she finds out everything about the much younger Huber. At home, she enjoys listening to Sugar Baby by Peter Kraus .

When Huber's wife goes away for two weeks because of a death, Marianne puts her plan into action to win Huber's heart. At a candy vending machine at a subway station, she offers him chocolate and takes him for a coffee. She invites him to dinner the next day.

An affair develops between them. Based on the song by Peter Kraus, they call themselves Zuckerbaby . When Ms. Huber comes back two weeks later and finds a note with Marianne's address in the apartment, she follows the two of them and plays them at a rock 'n' roll dance evening with the song Zuckerbaby . She knocks Marianne down and beats her husband out.

The film ends with Marianne, dressed up again, luring with chocolate, standing at the candy vending machine at a subway station.

criticism

“A melancholy, cheerful appeal for the courage to lead a self-confident, lovable life; the appealing performances and moving moments are contrasted with some lengths and, in the long run, somewhat thin dialogues. "
