Xan Cassavetes (* 21st September 1965 in Los Angeles , California as Alexandra Katherine Cassavetes ) is an American actress , screenwriter and director .

life and career

Cassavetes is the daughter of director and actor John Cassavetes (1929–1989) and actress Gena Rowlands . Cassavetes has two siblings, the older brother is the director Nick Cassavetes and the younger sister is Zoe R. Cassavetes . She has been married since March 12, 1995 and is the mother of two children.

As a child, Xan Cassavetes starred in four films directed by her father, with several family members appearing as actors in front of the camera. When she was five, she and her brother appeared in the comedy Husbands as Xan. Her father can be seen in the film with Peter Falk as the actor. The following year she was seen as a ballet dancer in Minnie and Moskowitz . Her mother played the female lead Minnie and Seymour Cassel the male part. Her grandmothers Katherine Cassavetes as Sheba and Lady Rowlands as Georgia made her debut as actresses. The father also used his youngest daughter as a baby in the film. She played a minor role in A Woman Under Influence . She was seen as a background singer in the comedy Love Streams . The main roles were played in both films by her parents.

She wrote the script, directed and acted in front of the camera for her 30-minute short film Dust . In the film drama Alpha Dog - Deadly Friendships , she played a small supporting role with her sister-in-law Heather Wahlquist and was responsible for the second unit as an assistant director . Justin Timberlake made his acting debut on the film, and her brother directed it. She wrote the script for the sixth episode ( Greenwich Village ) for the episode film New York, I Love You , with Steve Winter , directed by Allen Hughes and starring Bradley Cooper with Drea de Matteo in the lead roles.

She wrote the script for the film Kiss of the Damned and worked as a director behind the camera. The film was presented on November 7th, 2012 at the Stockholm International Film Festival .
