action

Police detective Harry Collins hunts criminals in Phoenix. In his spare time he likes to gamble, which is why he owes $ 32,000 to the bookmaker Chicago. Chicago suggests to Collins that if the cop commits Joey Schneider's murder for him, he should cancel the debt. A friend of the cop, Mike Henshaw, offers to kill Chicago.

Colleagues Collins, Henshaw, Fred Shuster and James Nutter decide to steal the money from the gangster Louie. Then Collins wants to start a new life together with the bartender Leila, who is raising her daughter Veronica on her own.

Tensions arise between Collins and his accomplices during the execution. Shuster's wife Katie learns of the plan and reveals it to Clyde Webber, the chief of the four police officers. Collins is shot; he later caught Katie in bed with Clyde and ordered the police over there.

Finally, already bleeding profusely, he meets Chicago at a diner in the desert and pays him his debt. He says they are quitt but mentioned that he still cut Joey Schneider's throat. Thereupon Collins shoots him and his bodyguards and pays the landlord. Shortly after leaving the diner, he collapses at the wheel of his car.
