La Linea - The Line (TV title: Deal with the enemy ; Original title: La Linea ) is an American action - thriller from the year 2009 , directed by James Cotten with Ray Liotta in the lead role.
action
"La Linea" refers to the American-Mexican border near Tijuana . The megacity is a popular alcoholic paradise for US college students and is considered Mexico's largest center for drug crime and prostitution. The head of the Salazar drug cartel, Javier Salazar, is set to be inherited by his unpredictable and power-hungry rival Pelon. The income from the cocaine business is not enough for him, which is why he wants to be supplied with heroin from Afghanistan by the Taliban terrorists in the future . A development that deeply worries the CIA : The fragile truce with the cartel is at stake. They send their best men to Mexico, and they soon meet the killers of Javier Salazar's son Diablo. When hitman Mark Shields also appears, the chaos is perfect. When trying to liquidate Pelon with a precision rifle from a promising position, Shield's memories of a failed mission torment him and he withdraws. A little later, he suffers a collapse due to the late use of a heroin substitute and is beaten almost to death by young people on the street. The aging dancer and prostitute Olivia, single mother of a young daughter, nurses Shields to health. Meanwhile, Shield's partner is caught and tortured to death by Pelon and his people. The second attempt to kill Pelon also fails, because at the same time a robbery takes place on Pelon's cocaine handling station. The perpetrators commissioned by Diablo flee in a hail of bullets. Pelon introduces the traitor from among his own ranks during a phone call. Shields kills a number of Pelon's companions and assistants and then returns to Olivia. Pelon takes revenge in a duel against Diablo, who he believes was the commissioner of the attack and the killings of Shields. In the ensuing duel, Pelon Shields missed. He provides Pelon and delivers him to Salazar, who has suddenly recovered. Salazar had only faked his terminal illness to restore balance to Tijuana. Shields receives his fee, but leaves it to Olivia before he leaves. In the taxi to the airport, Shields, who was fatally hit in a duel with Pelon, bleeds to death in memory of his great love who was accidentally killed.
