action

Deon is a successful football player on a college team. Despite the recognition and fame for his athletic ability, he has remained a family man. His mother Bee is proud of him, his younger brother Sean is reserved and Eric, his mother's boyfriend, sees the rising football star as winning the lottery. Shortly before joining the NFL , he was diagnosed with a fatal tumor. While Deon is fighting cancer , the family faces financial problems.

Since he has no degree, he has a hard time finding a job. As an athlete, he can never be active again. He begs a job as a car salesman in the company where his brother is employed. There he can double the sales in a short time and thus find his way back to life. After a pain attack, his doctor diagnoses that a new tumor has formed in the brain and that he has little time to live. At a farewell party he once again invites his friends and family members to reconcile with everyone.

Dispute over the film title

Initially the film was produced under the same title as Chinua Achebe's novel Things Fall Apart from 1958. After Achebe's lawyers contacted 50 Cent, the musician Achebe offered a million US dollars for the title rights. The author took this as an insult. The foundation, which manages Achebe's rights, stated: “The novel with the title mentioned was originally produced in 1958. It is considered the most widely read book in modern African literature, and it doesn't sell for a billion pounds either. ”The film was subsequently renamed All Things Fall Apart .

production

50 Cent, whose role is based on a childhood friend who died of cancer, lost 40 pounds to adequately portray Deon. By dieting and three hours a day on the treadmill, 50 Cent went from 97 kilograms to 73 kilograms in nine weeks.

The budget for the film is estimated at around $ 7,000,000.

criticism

The film service judged that the "ambitious topic, dealing with cancer" was "overlaid by clichés". In addition, the story would get bogged down "in too many side threads". The “uninspired production and a weak main actor” would do the rest “to let the drama slide into insignificance”.
