The Gmina wiejska Kiwity is a rural community in the powiat Lidzbarski in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . It has 3301 inhabitants (June 30, 2019) and has an area of 145.4 km², 14% of which is occupied by forest and 74% by agricultural area. The administrative seat of Gmina is the village of Kiwity ( German : Kiwitten ).
geography
The municipality is located in the former East Prussia , about 13 kilometers east of Lidzbark Warmiński ( Heilsberg ) and 40 kilometers northeast of Olsztyn ( Allenstein ). Neighboring municipalities are the rural municipalities: Bartoszyce and Lidzbark Warmiński and the urban and rural municipalities Bisztynek and Jeziorany . The municipal area represents 15.73% of the area of the Powiat Lidzbarski.
history
The area of the rural community belonged since 1466 to the Prince Diocese of Warmia in Prussia royal share . In 1772 it was annexed by Prussia and became part of the kingdom . Until 1945 the village belonged to Kiwitten circle Heilsberg in the administrative district of Konigsberg the Prussian province of East Prussia of the German Reich . From 1946 to 1998 the rural municipality belonged to the Olsztyn Voivodeship .
The municipality does not have a coat of arms, but a logo.

Other villages are Gościechowo ( Lisettenhof ), Kłajty ( Kleitz ), Maków ( Makohlen ) and Parkity ( Parkitten ).
Architectural monuments
The most important architectural monument of the rural community is the former Stoczek Abbey ( Springborn Abbey ) north of the village of Stoczek. The churches of Kiwity and Żegoty are also important.
