The gmina wiejska Bartoszyce is an independent rural municipality in Poland in the powiat Bartoszyce in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . Its seat is in the city of Bartoszyce ( German Bartenstein ). The rural community, to which the city of Bartoszyce itself does not belong, has an area of 427.8 km², on which (as of June 30, 2019) 10,767 people live.
geography
The rural municipality is located in the north of the voivodeship and borders on the Kaliningrad Oblast in the north . 71% of the municipal area is used for agriculture, 16% is covered with forest. The area completely surrounds the city of Bartoszyce and it covers 32.7% of the area of the powiat.
Neighboring communities are:
- the town of Bartoszyce and the rural communities of Bisztynek ( Bischofstein ), Górowo Iławeckie ( Landsberg ) and Sępopol ( Schippenbeil ) in the Powiat Bartoszyce;
- the rural communities Kiwity ( Kiewitten ) and Lidzbark Warmiński ( Heilsberg ) in the Powiat Lidzbarski ,

From 1975 to 1998 the rural municipality belonged to the Olsztyn Voivodeship .
