Piersele ( German  Perscheln ) is a village in the north of the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . It is located in the powiat Bartoszycki and belongs to the rural municipality of Bartoszyce .

Geographical location

Piersele is located about four kilometers southeast of the district town of Bartoszyce ( Bartenstein ), three kilometers south of the border with the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad in the former East Prussia .

history

Piersele was a noble estate. The manor house was rebuilt in the second half of the 18th century. At the beginning of the 19th century, the estate was owned by members of the Falkenhayn family . Around 1807 the captain was a. D. Bernhard von Falkenhayn the squire. At the time of the Battle of Preussisch Eylau in February 1807, a hospital was set up in the manor house. Before 1833 the estate had an area of 848 acres and the village had a total of 63 inhabitants in nine households. Since the second half of the 19th century, the estate was owned by a branch of the Berg family .

Until 1945 Perscheln belonged to the district of Bartenstein (Ostpr.) In the administrative district of Königsberg in the Prussian province of East Prussia . The manor house survived the Second World War largely undamaged.

In March 1945, Perscheln and southern East Prussia came under the administration of the People's Republic of Poland . They renamed it Piersele , drove out the residents and converted the estate into a state-owned agricultural enterprise . The manor house fell apart and was later demolished.

The village is now part of the rural municipality of Bartoszyce in the powiat of the same name in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship (1975-1998 Olsztyn Voivodeship ).
