action

Forensic doctor David Krane is very interested in Martha Briggs' research. This can transmit memories between rats in the laboratory. Krane makes himself available as the first human test object, but Briggs refuses him due to the susceptibility to complications. In the evening, Krane secretly steals the necessary substance and mixes it with the cerebrospinal fluid of his murdered wife. He can now “remember” fragments of the murder. The next time he tries, he can spot a woman's murderer in a kiosk. He even makes a phantom image and the perpetrator can be identified. Krane first pursues that already convicted man on the street, then the perpetrator storms into a church and takes a child hostage. The perpetrator, however, is gunned down by the police.

During the autopsy, Krane secretly takes in cerebral fluid again. In a subsequent serum experiment, Krane can now take the perpetrator perspective, but this does not prove him to be the murderer of his wife. Meanwhile, a paternity test reveals that Crane's wife was pregnant, but not from him. Although his health is already badly damaged, he makes another self-experiment in the study of his murdered wife. Detective Don Bresler sets everything on fire there. He was the murderer of Crane's wife because he feared she would report her. Krane can overwhelm him, but saves him from the flames.

Krane, lying in a coma in the hospital, meets his wife again there. They say goodbye quietly.
