Sullivan is from an internal auditor approached the counter murdered and two other police officers from Kingston's team because of corruption and extortion determined. He tells Kingston that there is a file against the murdered man and that the other two colleagues are to be questioned the next day. But it doesn't come to that: During the night, both are killed by an unknown perpetrator.

Sullivan becomes suspicious and suspects that there could be a connection between the murders and his new colleague. He begins to research in its environment too. Meanwhile, Kingston tries to cover up the two murders by laying wrong tracks and destroying evidence. He succeeds in directing suspicion to a third person. He kidnaps her to his father's farm and prepares evidence. Then he lets him go again and "by chance" finds a hot lead the following day that leads him to the alleged perpetrator. A task force storms the apartment of the wrongly accused. Nevertheless he flees; Sullivan is chasing him. Kingston takes advantage of the situation and hides further incriminating material in the stormed apartment. Sullivan can catch the fugitive on a suburban train. An accompanying passenger films the dramatic situation with his mobile phone. The situation escalates and Sullivan shoots the man. Kingston comforts him, but Sullivan's distrust grows. He discovers that Kingston allegedly embezzled up to a million dollars in drug delivery three years ago. He finds out that he is paying for an operation on his wife, who was suffering from cancer, among other things . Also, Kingston's son casually tells him that he doesn't like going to his grandfather's farm because it always smells like garlic there. But it was precisely this smell that the suspect mentioned in the passenger's cell phone video.

Sullivan is now certain that his partner is involved in the case. Kingston, in turn, realizes that Sullivan is on his tail. He threatens him and advises him to stay out of the matter. When Sullivan's wife tries to drive away the next day, the vehicle explodes in front of his eyes. He visits Kingston in his house, but initially does not find him. Kingston manages to knock him down and lure him to a secluded spot in his car. Sullivan realizes he is about to be shot and is able to escape from the vehicle. Kingston pursues him and the two meet. Sullivan confronts his former partner and accuses him of having his wife on his conscience. When it becomes clear that the police will be arriving shortly, Kingston begs his mercy. He is better than himself. But Sullivan denies and shoots Kingston.
