Gingers Welt (original title: As Told by Ginger ) is an American animated series from 2000 to 2004 by Nickelodeon and the Klasky Csupo studio .

content

Ginger Foutley tells about her life when she was twelve to 16 years old. Together with her two best friends Dodie Hortense Bishop and Macie Lightfoot and the many other characters in the series, she masters numerous situations of everyday teenage life and goes through all kinds of beautiful and sad moments in the life of an adolescent.

people

  • Ginger Foutley : Ginger Foutley is red-haired (English: ginger haired ) and a normal teenager who has to find his way in the world of Lucky Junior High School. Little by little she has to find out who she really is and realizes that she may not be that different from the others after all.
  • Deidre Hortense "Dodie" Bishop : Dodie Bishop is Ginger's best friend. Even more than Ginger, she feels the desire to be included in the “cool clique”. She's not very smart and sometimes naughty, but she's a good friend.
  • Macie Lightfoot : Macie Lightfoot is next to Dodie Ginger's second best friend. She is small, nearsighted and allergic to almost everything, but also very intelligent. She is weird, has frequent panic attacks and has her own idea of how things should work. Macie's birthday is April 22nd.
  • Carl Foutley : Carl Foutley is the little, sometimes annoying brother of Ginger. Carl has a penchant for chaos and he loves to be the center of attention. Together with his best friend, Dodie's little brother Hoodsey, he lives in the dog house in Foutley's garden. In this friendship, Carl usually sets the tone and tries to get Hoodsey excited about the next plan. Together they sometimes make Ginger's life hell. But Carl is usually pretty smart and always pretends to be a detective.
  • Robert Joseph "Hoodsey" Bishop : "Hoodsey" has this nickname because he always wears a purple-colored sweater with a hood. He is the brother of Dodie Bishop and small, plump and is always at Carl's side. Usually he is persuaded to do these things by Carl, but sometimes he manages to awaken Carl's conscience in order to avoid worse. Hoodsey loves ice cream and is secretly in love with Macie.
  • Lois Foutley : Lois Foutley is the single mother of Ginger Foutley. Unlike, for example, Joane Bishop, the neurotic mother of Hoodsey and Dodie, she manages to keep a cool head in almost every situation and confidently stands by her children.
  • Darren Patterson : Darren is Ginger's best and "first" friend and a long-time neighbor. The previously somewhat shy boy with oversized braces turns into a handsome young football player over time. Despite phases of turbulence, he is always at Ginger's side.
  • Courtney Gripling : She is the richest and most popular girl in Lucky Junior High School. Together with her handyman Miranda, she initially has nothing better to do than to demonstrate her superiority to Ginger, but she is actually curious about Ginger and her real friends. So she becomes more human and befriends Ginger.
  • Miranda Killgallen : Miranda Killgallen, an African American, is the mean "right hand man" of Courtney Griplin. She hates Ginger Foutley and her gang. In the same way, Miranda cannot bear that Ginger and Courtney get along better from episode to episode, and she tries to sabotage this friendship with some actions. It is largely nasty and deceitful and in a few situations it surprises with true humanity. Your father is a cop.

Conception

The consequences are often told from the point of view of Ginger and her friends, as well as from the point of view of Carl Foutley and "Hoodsey" Bishop. Only at the end of the series does it become clear that these are flashbacks from Ginger's life, which Ginger introduces during a reading from her diary.

Ginger's world consists of three seasons of around 20 episodes each. The last three episodes of each season together make up an hour and a half long film. These are

  • Holidays in Camp Caprice (episode 18/19/20)
  • Foutley family on ice (episode 41/42/43)
  • The greatest happiness on earth. (Episode 58/59/60)

Each of these three-part series brings about major changes in Ginger's life in the following episodes, with the last revealing that all events are from Ginger's memories, which she recorded in her diary and reads out. In the third season there is a two-part series called Butterflies Are Free (episode 47/48), which describes the transition from Lucky Junior High to Lucky High.
