Nick Switzerland is the Swiss-German / German-speaking Swiss branch of the US cable broadcaster Nickelodeon . The Viacom media group's specialty channel is aimed at children and young people. Nickelodeon Switzerland currently broadcasts from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The station started on April 1, 2009 under the name Nick Switzerland on the channel previously used exclusively by VIVA Switzerland , which from then on was used jointly. For this purpose, VIVA's transmission time has been shortened to 8:15 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. After the start, the program largely corresponded to that of the German sister station ; In accordance with the Europe-wide alignment of the Viacom brands with the US templates, the Swiss branch also adopted the full name Nickelodeon on April 1, 2010 .

The structure of the Viacom channels distributed in Switzerland was changed again on May 16, 2011. Nickelodeon Switzerland was joined by the newly localized station Comedy Central Switzerland , which took over the previous broadcasting time of VIVA Switzerland (8:15 pm – 5:00 am) on the shared channel . With this change, the Nickelodeon / Comedy Central channel division corresponds to that in the rest of Europe; the station VIVA Switzerland was thus effectively discontinued and replaced in digital cable networks by VIVA Germany . The German-language version of the VIVA channel was replaced on October 1, 2012 in the Swiss cable and IPTV networks by the reactivated VIVA CH .

Before the channel was split with VIVA Switzerland , Nick Germany (with Swiss advertising window) already shared the channel with MTV Switzerland.

Since October 1, 2014, Nickelodeon can be seen again 24 hours a day. The daily program (5:00 am to 9:00 pm) is aimed at children between the ages of 3 and 13 years. The evening program (9: 00-5: 00 pm) is aimed at teenagers and young adults, unlike its competitors Super RTL and Disney Channel , and is therefore getting older by the hour and bears the name Nicknight . Comedy Central (5: 00–6: 00 pm) has shared the broadcasting slot with VIVA (6: 00–5: 00 pm) since September 8, 2014 . On June 28, 2017, the station name changed back from Nickelodeon to Nick. On April 20, 2020, the website of Nickelodeon Switzerland was switched off and integrated into the website of Nickelodeon Germany.
