Comedy Central Austria is a German-speaking branch of the US comedy channel Comedy Central . The owner is Viacom . The entertainment program with a focus on comedy is identical to that of Comedy Central Germany . However, as with VIVA and Nickelodeon , Austria offers its own advertising windows. The channel started in Austria on January 1, 2011 and replaced VIVA Austria with Nickelodeon on the frequency that had been used until then. The station broadcast its program from 8:15 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. In addition to German in- house productions, US , British and Canadian productions are also broadcast to this day. For some time now, Comedy Central Austria has also been distributed as an HD version on the UPC Austria network .

From September 8, 2014 to September 30, 2015, Comedy Central started its program at 5:00 p.m. Instead of sharing with Nickelodeon, the station has now shared the transmission frequency with VIVA Austria. The VIVA program could be seen between 6:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Up to September 30, 2014, the program was simulcast on the previous and on the VIVA frequency. From October 1, 2015 to December 31, 2018, Comedy Central aired from 2:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. and therefore 1 hour less than before. VIVA broadcast its program between 2:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Comedy Central Austria has been broadcasting  24 hours a day since December 31, 2018 at 2 p.m. VIVA has been discontinued.
