List of TV channels

VH1 Classic Europe is a digital, pan-European pay-TV - music channel and an offshoot of the US channel VH1 . Mostly music videos but also documentaries are shown.

The focus is on music videos since the 1970s through to the 1990s. These are mostly grouped under certain mottos (for example We Are The 80s ). A special feature is the regular interspersion of excerpts from concerts and live performances. Some of these come from programs such as the Beatclub or were recorded long before the 1970s. For example, video clips from the 1940s are not necessarily something special in the program.

It started broadcasting on July 1, 1999. Initially, the British version was broadcast across Europe. A European version of the station has also been on air since December 1, 2005, replacing the UK version previously broadcast in countries outside the UK. On March 1, 2010, the British version was finally renamed MTV Classic , but the European version kept its name.

Other countries

On May 8, 2000, an American version of the station was launched. On August 1, 2016, the station in the USA was also renamed MTV Classic .

In Germany, VH1 Classic is marketed through the MTV Unlimited package. Until November 30, 2011, VH1 Classic was also broadcast in the “Kabel Digital Home” package from Kabel Deutschland and until April 4, 2012 via the Premiere successor SKY.
