MTV Two
MTV Two (formerly: MTV2 Europe or MTV2 UK) was the European offshoot of the US music broadcaster MTV 2 , which was initially launched as MTV2 UK in September 2001 and was renamed MTV2 Europe in 2005 after the German MTV offshoot MTV2 Pop was discontinued . In the course of a standardization of the design of the British MTV channels on July 22, 2007, MTV2 Europe was renamed MTV Two analogously to MTV One. In the course of a repeated unification, MTV Two was converted to MTV Rocks on March 1, 2010 .
The musical content included the following genres: Alternative Rock , Alternative Metal , Britpop , Grunge , Indie-Pop , Indie-Rock , Indietronic , Heavy Metal , New Wave , New Rave Post-Punk , Punk (music) , rock music ,
MTV Two's program was primarily aimed at promoting and supporting artists from the genres of rock , punk , indie , and metal .
If the program was only a copy of the American MTV 2 in the first year of the program , a new program scheme was introduced in September 2002 in order to differentiate itself more from its American counterpart and to focus on a more independent profile. Along with the program reform, the on-air design was replaced by its own and separate VJs were used for the programs.
Since then, shows such as " NME Chart Show" presented by the Queens Of Noize , " Daria ", " Jackass ", " Viva La Bam ", " Happy Tree Friends ", and " Dogshitter Wants " have run on the UK music channel.
The highlights in MTV Two's program were, in addition to the program "Gonzo", which is hosted by BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe , the regular band interviews carried out by MTV Two community members and the weekends specially dedicated to one topic.
In contrast to the rest of the MTV stations, MTV Two almost completely dispensed with the ringtone advertising typical of MTV and instead mainly shows advertising for CDs, video games or DVDs. In addition, MTV Two was ad-free from midnight to 6 a.m.
renaming
In March 2010, MTV Two was renamed MTV Rocks. The transmission schedule remained largely unaffected by this change.
