Street team

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A street team is a group of fans of a music band who try to make the respective band better known through marketing .

Street teams appeared in the USA for the first time in the mid- 1990s and were supplied with stickers , flyers , posters and CDs by the bands' record companies or directly by the bands in order to advertise them in a limited region ( city , circle of friends ...).

As payment for their work, the Streetteamer receive concert tickets, CDs (sometimes long before the official release date ) and sometimes meetings with the bands.

Nowadays, street teams are seen as an equal marketing tool alongside many others (e.g. print advertising ), as they can be used to address the target group directly, without friction losses.
