Professional Murder Music (short: PMM ) is a 1999 founded by Roman Marisak and Jeff Schartoff American alternative metal - band from Los Angeles / California . The band is known for soundtrack participation in the films Schrei, if you Can , End of Days and Ginger Snaps .

Band history

1999: foundation

PMM was founded in 1999 by Roman Marisak and Jeff Schartoff in Los Angeles. The former founded the band Human Waste Project and initially saw PMM as just a music project. Shortly after the band was founded, Marisak and Schartoff brought drummer Justin Bennet to the band, who was also active in bands such as Skinny Puppy , My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult and for Peter Murphy . They also brought the guitarist Brian Harrah to the band. He was previously active in the Tura Satana group. A few months after the formation, the band signed a contract with Geffen Records and began work on their debut album.

2001: Professional Murder Music

Together with producer Josh Abraham, who co-produced albums by Korn and Staind , they started to record their debut album, which is called Professional Murder Music . Dave Ogilvie (Skinny Puppy) and Troy Van Leeuwen ( A Perfect Circle ) supported the band with their recordings. PMM toured with Marilyn Manson , Staind, Cold , Powerman 5000 and Kid Rock . They also performed at concerts with bands such as Slipknot , Slayer and Sevendust . Her song Slow was broadcast on MTV , MTV2 and MTVX and served the rapper Eminem as music for his DVD Behind the Scenes . Slow , Fall Again and A Night Like This ( The-Cure -Cover) are featured in the soundtracks of Schrei, If You Can , Ginger Snaps and End of Days .

2003: Looking Through

After the release of the album Professional Murder Music , the band members became less interested in continuing to work with the label's staff and in their music itself, as they had different visions. Justin Bennet and Brian Harrah left the band during the recording of their new album and Marisak had to take over the guitar part. Well-known guest musicians were present in this production of the band, such as Tommy Lee from Mötley Crüe on drums (in the song Disconnect ), Jason Miller from Godhead as background singer in the song Don't Stop and Buzz McCoy from My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, who mixed the remix of the song Something New . After further problems with the label during the recording of the album, PMM announced that it would continue to produce and market the album independently of the label. A little later the band founded the label Wormhole Records . PMM was featured in the soundtrack of MTV's The Real World with the songs Start Again and All Lost Things . In 2003 they gave a concert tour with the bands Dope and Pigface . A year later, the band announced that this tour was their first in their history. Tom Hatziemanouel of the Graves and Josh Memolo of The Union Underground joined the band on guitar and drums during the tour.

2004: From the Depths

In 2005 the band decided to 5 covers comprehensive acoustic EP record. This EP is called De Profundis and was also released like Looking Through (2003) under the label Wormhole Records . At the end of 2004, Chris Olivas from the Berlin band joined the band as a new drummer. Marisak is a longtime friend of Oliva's.
