Band members
Tim (Timothy David) Foreman (born August 15, 1978 in Lake Arrowhead , California ) is the bassist, co-songwriter and background singer of the band. He was born in Lake Arrowhead two years after his brother Jon Foreman, the songwriter, singer and lead guitarist of Switchfoot. His family then moved to Boston , Massachusetts and later to Norfolk , Virginia. However, they have been living in San Diego , California, the hometown of all band members, for a long time .
Foreman met his wife Andrea in high school. They have a son (born April 2005) named Jett.
Foreman graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a degree in computer design and has won numerous prizes in surfing competitions. He is also called the "ninja". Foreman's musical influences are Paul McCartney and the Beatles.
Tim was taught how to play the bass from his brother Jon. He started doing this when he was in fifth grade. He never took proper lessons. At the beginning of his career, Tim used a Fender Precision Bass with an Ampeg SVT amplifier . He currently plays on Lakland basses, the sound of which is distributed via Gallien-Krueger amplifiers (e.g. Lakland 4-94, Lakland Hollowbody, Lakland Decade, Gibson Thunderbird, Fender Mustang Bass, Line6 Bass PODXTL, Music Man Stingray , Gallien- Krueger 2001RB head and a Music Man bass).
