Daniel Richard Powter [ ˌdænjəl ˈpaʊtɚ ] (born February 25, 1971 in Vernon , British Columbia ) is a Canadian pop musician .

biography

Powter grew up in the Okanagan Valley . He started playing the violin as a child, but quickly switched to the piano. He formed his first band at the age of 18.

On February 14, 2000, Powters debut album was released in Canada, two songs of which were also featured in the television series Higher Ground . Together with producers Jeff Dawson and Mitchell Froom , his second album Daniel Powter was created in 2004 . With the album he reached the top 15 of the album charts in France; the resulting single Bad Day rose to number 1 on the airplay charts . In spring 2005 he was able to almost repeat this success in Switzerland. In June 2005, Powters single finally reached the German charts.

His third album Under the Radar was released in Germany on September 19, 2008 . The first single from it, entitled Next Plane Home , was released on September 12th.

He is the father of a daughter born in 2003.

In 2010 Powter released his album Best of Me . The released singles Lose to Win , Fall in Love (The Day We Never Met) and Come Home were successful in Asia.
