Johann Christian Ziegler
Johann Christian Ziegler (born February 7, 1803 in Wunsiedel , † June 18, 1833 in Munich ) was a German painter .
Life
Ziegler was the son of a cloth maker and was initially a porcelain painter apprentice at the Heinrich Sieger porcelain factory. From 1821 he studied landscape painting at the Munich Academy under Wilhelm von Kobell, among others . Study trips took him to Italy and Austria .
In addition to his painting, he worked as a lithographer with the naturalist Carl Friedrich Philipp von Martius and contributed to the creation of the “ Historia naturalis palmarum ” .
He died of bone tuberculosis at the age of 30 .
