Kaui Hart Hemmings

Kaui Hart Hemmings , born Kaui Johnston (* 1975 in Hawaii ), is a Hawaiian writer .

Life

Kaui Hart Hemmings was born in Hawaii in 1975 and grew up with her mother. When she was five years old, her mother married the internationally successful surfer and later politician Fred Hemmings . He adopted his stepdaughter at the age of 11 and she took his last name.

Hemmings first attended the Punahou School in Honolulu , then Colorado College and Sarah Lawrence College in New York City . She then received a Wallace Stegner Fellowship at Stanford University in Palo Alto .

Her first novel With Your Eyes was published in several countries and was released as a film in 2011 by director Alexander Payne and lead actor George Clooney , see The Descendants - Family and Other Matters .

Hemmings is married and has two children.
