Adam und die Micky’s was a dance band that had existed for decades, was best known for its entertainment and party music in the New Hesse region , and was dissolved in 2013 after 44 years.
history
Adam and Micky's emerged from the rock and beat band Micky’s , which was very popular in the Offenbach area in the 1960s and filled the halls during this time. After this band broke up due to a lack of spectators, the Mickey trio remained, which then became Adam and the Micky’s after Dieter Adam had the idea of turning Heintje's mom into a dad who had "already drunk himself full again". This single, which was released in 1969, sold over 150,000 copies. The first LP Oh, häppy Day, Pappa was released a year later. Many more followed. In 1978 the band released the title Im Wagen vor mir… drives so'n old Simpel , a parody of Im Wagen vor mich by Henry Valentino , which was also released in 1979 on the LP Original Blödel-Hits .
Bass player was Norbert Lehr since 1972. Wolfgang Sokolowski was on the drums from 1973 to 2000, and since then the band has played with changing drummers. In the four decades of their existence, Adam and the Micky's released around 30 albums and were frequently featured on television programs such as the Blauer Bock .
The best-known hit of the group is the 1990 single Die Runkelroiweroppmaschin ("Die Runkelrübenrupfmaschine"), which was voted the most popular Hessian carnival song in February 2008 by viewers of the Hessischer Rundfunk .
In 2012, an ENT doctor diagnosed bandleader Dieter Adam with a carcinoma on the left vocal cord, which was removed in the ENT department of the University Hospital in Marburg. As a result, Adam could only speak with difficulty and could no longer sing. Therefore, the band broke up after the Carnival campaign in 2013. In 2014 Dieter Adam fell ill with throat cancer. After several operations, radiation treatments and chemo, he lost his voice and died in February 2019 at the age of 77.
