Mourning Caress was a German death metal - band .

history

At the end of 1998 singer Gerrit Mohr and drummer Dominik Schlueter founded Mourning Caress in Münster ; A short time later the guitarists Benedikt Bjarnason and Florian Erhart and bassist Daniel Busche joined them. After signing the contract with the Spanish label Arise Records in the spring of 2001, the following year the debut album Imbalance was produced. In 2005 guitarist Florian Erhart was replaced by Florian Albers.

Three years later the band released their second album Inner Exile on the Dutch label Restrain Records . Restrain Records closed a few months after Inner Exile was released. In addition, guitarist Benedikt Bjarnason decided in 2009 to leave the band due to professional obligations. With the line-up Dominik Schlüter, Florian Albers, Gerrit Mohr and Daniel Busche, the band withdrew to the DocMaKlang Studio in Osnabrück at the end of 2010 to record their third album, Deep Wounds, Bright Scars , with producer Matthias Lohmöller . During these recordings, ex-guitarist Benedikt Bjarnason died at the end of December 2010 of cancer that he was diagnosed with in spring 2010. Deep Wounds, Bright Scars was dedicated to him. Mourning Caress finished the recordings for this album in early 2011 and shortly afterwards found a new guitarist in Wolfgang "Sandman" Sander. Deep Wounds, Bright Scars was mastered by Ulf Horbelt / DMS in Marl , the artwork comes from Killustrations and Björn Gooßes, the former Night in Gales singer.

Mourning Caress have appeared with bands like Tankard , Naglfar , Grave , Mercenary , God Dethroned , Die Apokalyptischen Reiter , The Forsaken, Dew-Scented , Unleashed , Night in Gales , Krisiun and Burden of Grief . Festival appearances include the Summer Breeze Open Air in Abtsgmünd , the Rock Station Festival in Ankara , the Westfalen Festival in Dortmund , the Zillo Festival in Sankt Goarshausen and the Rock Republic Open Air in Istanbul with Slayer as the headliner .

On January 12, 2015, the band announced their breakup on their homepage.
