Psychostick is an American fun metal band from Phoenix , Arizona .

history

After Joshua Key played in various bands in Texas in the 1990s , he moved to Phoenix (Arizona) with Rob "Rawrb" Kersey. There the two met Alex Preiss (drums) and the bassist Hunter Alexander. Together they founded Psychostick in August 2000. Only a month later, the first demo, Don't Bitch, It's Free, was released . The group's first appearance followed on Valentine's Day 2001. In August 2001 the second demo, Die… A Lot! .

December 2001 Hunter got out and was replaced by Mike Hawkizzard. In May 2002, the self-financed debut album We Couldn't Think of a Title was released . In 2005 the song Beer! played on the radio station SquiZZ XM and was voted number 1 on the listener charts for seven weeks. Then the Flash film from Beer! via Ebaumsworld.com and Collegehumor.com . Rock Ridge Records became aware of the group and released the debut album again. There the second album The Flesh Eating Rollerskate Holiday Joyride was released . In 2007 the line-up changed again. In 2009 the album Sandwich was released with Jimmy Changa on bass and with the new guitarist Jakermeister.

Music genre

Psychostick are a hardcore punk band in the tradition of Gang Green and The Spudmonsters , who value humorous lyrics and unusual live presence. The design of their sound carriers also indicates the fun metal aspect of their music. On the back of the debut album , for example, there is a checklist in which only the item “Think of album title” is not checked.
