The Spudmonsters is an American thrash metal , hardcore , and crossover band from Cleveland , Ohio that was formed in 1987, split up in 1998, and reunited in 2011.
history
The band was formed in 1989 and consisted of singer Don Foose, guitarists Scott Roberts and Chris Andrews, bassist Steve Swanson and drummer Eric Matthews. Together the members developed the first songs and appeared for the first time on the compilation Metal Massacre XI by Metal Blade Records in 1991. The band reached a contract with the German label Massacre Records . Their debut album Stop the Madness was released in 1993 and then went on tour through Europe with Biohazard . Around the same time, Don Foose converted to Hare Krishna , which has often wrongly referred to the band's music as Krishna Core . Further tours followed with bands like MOD , Life of Agony and Pro-Pain . In 1995 the second album No Guarantees followed after guitarist Chris Andrews left the band and was replaced by Eric Klinger (Pro-Pain). After another album was released in 1996 with Moment of Truth , the contract with Massacre Records was dissolved. Another European tour with Pro-Pain followed in 1997. In April 1998 Foose left the band to form the group Run Devil Run , which the band was disbanded for the time being. In the following years the members formed other bands or joined other bands. The band performed every now and then, but didn't come back completely until 2011 with their album Stand Up for What You Believe .
style
The band only made songs with a humorous content in their early days, while later albums got more serious. The songs are played in a technically sound manner, but are sometimes very similar, as there are often hardly any variations in tempo and style of play.
