Nasty ( nasty ) is a song by Janet Jackson from the year 1986 , that from her and the duo Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis was written. It appeared on the album Control and was released on April 15, 1986.

history

The song was written from Janet Jackson's autobiographical point of view about men who abuse their power.

Janet Jackson to Nasty :

“When some stalkers hit me, danger drove me into the house. They were very threatening to me. Instead of hiding from them at Jim and Terry's, I took the risk and beat up the boys. That's how I came up with my song idea, which I expanded with the duo "

- Janet Jackson in an interview with " Rolling Stone " (1993)

Because of the experience, Jackson sang the song on virtually every tour so far, including the Rhythm Nation World Tour and The Velvet Rope World Tour .

Music video

Mary Lambert directed the music video for the song. At the beginning of the video, Janet Jackson goes to a movie theater and is flirted with by a horde of men. She goes to the cinema with the other visitors. All sit down. She is harassed by a stalker and jumps loudly in front of the screen. She jumps into the screen and dances a choreography with some background dancers until the dancers disappear when the police arrive. Jackson later walks past a kiosk and makes everyone dance there too, with a dancer joining them. She makes an appointment with him and leaves him. At the end of the clip, Jackson jumps out of the scene leaving the men on screen.

Paula Abdul won a Best Choreography in a Video category at the 1987 MTV Video Music Awards .
