Troopers is a German band with Oi! - and metal influences from Berlin-Kreuzberg , which was founded in 1982.

history

Since the band was founded, the line-up of bassist and drummer has varied continuously. Only the line-up of guitarist and singer remained constant with Atze (Dirk Baumann) across all records. Each of the 5 albums so far was recorded with a different line-up.

The debut album Troopers was recorded with Briese and Celly. Briese, Atze's brother, died of a drug overdose. The follow-up album Märchenprinz was recorded with Arno and Micha, the latter was also part of the third album Gassenhauer . Billy (now with Bad Co. Project ), who played as a substitute for Arno Bass, stayed again until the next album Geliebe, Hated , on which Sven now played drums. The album Mein Kopf dem Henker was recorded with Matze and Friedemann , both from the hardcore punk band COR .

In addition to Atze, the line-up has consisted of Ralle (ex-Rawside) on bass and David (Coretex / Bad Dog Records; previously active in various hardcore bands) on drums.

style

Did Troopers play rough Oi! In their early days ? In the newer albums more and more influences of heavy metal were added. Since the second album at the latest, the band's style has been shaped exclusively by Atze, who repeatedly denied external influences from other bands in interviews: “I'm not interested in music and what I want to hear, I do myself.” Unlike many other bands the scene, references to skinhead culture play almost no role in Atze's texts.
