Tape is a German band from Hamburg that combines hard rock with R&B vocals.

history

Tape was founded in 2000 in the original line-up. Even before the release of their debut CD "# 1", they were on tour with greats like Disturbed . At the end of 2002 the band signed a record deal with "EastWest" ( Warner Music ). Her debut single Yeeha was released in October 2003. Shortly thereafter, the album "# 1" was released. The debut album was produced by the American Daniel Presley (including Faith No More ). The sound engineer was the Englishman Doug Cook (including Cradle of Filth ). "# 1" was mixed by the Dutchman Ronald Prent (including Rammstein ). Both the single (number 62) and album (number 72) made it into the German charts and stayed there for a few weeks. The video for Yeeha was shot in South Africa , near Johannesburg .

The band toured almost continuously, including supporting Limp Bizkit on their last tour of Germany in 2004. They also supported Die Ärzte (by personal invitation), Kittie , A , Disturbed , Paradise Lost (October / November 2003) and Stone Sour .

Dacia Bridges , who until then had taken over the vocals at Tape, left the band in August 2004 and became the front woman of Dacia & The WMD . Since October 2004 , Peti , who comes from the Caribbean , has been singing at Tape.

At the end of 2005, Tape finished the recordings for their new album "# 2", which should be released in January 2007. However, this was stopped for the time being by an injunction from Dacia Bridges. The reason is that the buyer could have the impression that it is an original product that was created with the participation of the ex-singer.

While the band refrained from performing under the name Tape for a while and temporarily changed the name to Txxx , the album was released in early February 2009 under its regular name. As the online magazine Mindbreed.de reported on March 5, 2007, the injunction to use the band's name was withdrawn, so that the band can now call itself tape again .

Another album was announced repeatedly, but it was never released. Former singer Dacia Bridges died in early August 2019.
