Job for a Cowboy ( English for work / task for a cowboy ) is an American death metal band from Glendale , Arizona .
history
The band was founded in December 2003, at which time none of the founding members were older than 17 years. After a self-titled demo and a major line-up change, an EP called Doom was created in 2005 , which was released by "Kings of the Monsters Records". The positive response and the fact that the band had over three million clicks on their website on MySpace brought them a more lucrative record deal in 2006 with the Metal Blade Records label , which re-released the EP with a bonus track. Due to lack of interest, Andrew Arcurio had to leave the band shortly after the contract was signed and was replaced by Bobby Thompson.
After completing the recordings for the debut album Genesis , Elliot Sellers left the band. After a short search, he was found in 2007 in the form of Jon "The Charn" Rice. On May 15, 2007, Genesis was released on Metal Blade Records. It debuted at number 54 on the US Billboard charts .
On July 7, 2009, the second studio album Ruination , which was recorded from December 2008 to May 2009, was released. In the first week, 10,600 copies of the album were sold and it reached number 42 on the Billboard 200 chart.
In November 2010 the band released the only digitally available EP Live Ruination , which contains several songs from their live performance at the New England Metal & Hardcore Festival and the cover song The Matter Of Splatter (originally by Exhumed ).
On June 7, 2011, the EP Gloom was released.
April 10, 2012 was the release date for the third studio work Demonocracy .
According to the band, the drummer Jon “The Charn” Rice left the band for personal reasons and lack of interest and was replaced by Danny Walker on the new recordings for the fourth studio album.
Music genre
Job for a Cowboy initially played Metalcore with predominantly elements of Death Metal; this style is also called deathcore . Since their album Genesis they have moved away from metalcore musically. Now they play modern death metal. Passages with "clean" vocals, which are otherwise common in Metalcore, and hard breakdowns are not present in their music. Nevertheless, in 2007 the band played at the Pressure Festival , a festival with a focus on hardcore and metalcore.
