history

The Final End Principle

Bloodwork was founded in 2006 by singer David Hambach, guitarist Nikko Schaffranek and bassist Frank Hürland. Bloodwork was soon completed by two other band experienced musicians: the guitarist Robert Koch and the drummer Moritz Menke.

In 2007 the band independently produced their first promo CD , which was titled Demo 2007 and contained five tracks. This demo recording was named "Demo of the Month" by Metal Hammer . It also received positive feedback from metal.de , vampster.com and stormbringer.at, among others .

Although the band did not have a record deal , the band was booked in 2008 for the Wacken Open Air and the Summer Breeze Open Air .

In 2009 the band signed with the record label Dockyard 1 Records , which is based in Hamburg . The band then released their debut album , which was recorded in-house. It was called The Final End Principle and, in addition to the five songs that had already appeared on the demo, contained eight more. The album was also largely well received in the metal press. The band was repeatedly accused of " copying their role models Soilwork down to the smallest detail". Bloodwork is at least "honest enough to make the similarities in the sound known in the band name", says Wolfgang Kuhn from Metal Hammer .

Ultima ratio

After the release, Bloodwork toured Europe with the thrash metal band Hatesphere . Further tours with Narcissus , The Sorrow and Drone followed. Bloodwork also played one more time at Wacken Open Air, this time at the headliner position at 10 p.m., where they could perform in front of a very large audience . The Wacken organizers also supported the band by using songs by the band several times on their homepage and in the trailers for the festival.

Bloodwork had already recorded and produced their new album, which was to be titled Ultima Ratio , but the band had split from their Dockyard 1 label. So the band was looking for a label that could market the new album well. In 2011 Bloodwork signed with Sound Guerilla Records from Diepholz . Ultima Ratio was published on July 29, 2011. On the same day there was a release party in the band's hometown of Paderborn , where the entire new album was played live.

A few days after the release, Bloodwork split from singer David Hambach. According to her Facebook page, "personal differences" were the reasons for this. Furthermore, the band announced on Facebook that they intend to play their live performances with four people, until a suitable replacement front man is found.

Ultima Ratio was awarded 6 out of 7 points by Metal Hammer and also received positive reviews from other online reviews, for example from Amboss-Mag .

zero

On December 9, 2011, the band announced via Facebook that Michael Torka had been accepted as the new singer in the band. The band's current album is titled Zero and was released on June 14, 2013 on the Sound Guerilla Records label.

Band break and return to the stage

In August 2014, a break for an indefinite period was announced via Facebook, which was finally officially ended in February 2018 with the band announcing a concert. Before that, the Paderborn event group Metal Inferno eV announced their festival for 5./6. October 2018 already advertised the band's farewell concert on the festival flyers. Shortly after the event in October 2018, the band announced on their Facebook page that the plans to break up had been discarded and that, in addition to concerts, new song material was to be worked on again. At the same time, the departure of long-time bassist and founding member Frank Hürland was announced, the reason given was a private decision on the part of the band member. Niklas Neuwöhner was introduced as a new addition to the bass.
