Burning Skies was a British deathcore band from Bristol , England .
history
In 2002 the band was founded by Liam Phelan, Andrew Georg and Stu Mckay. They all had experience in other metal bands. As a band leader, they were able to engage Merv Hembrough in the same year. The last person to join the group was Ben Akersn in late 2002.
In 2003 the demo CD Premonition of Things to Come was recorded, which aroused the interest of Lifeforce Records . At Lifeforce, they released their debut album Murder by Means of Existence in February of the following year .
The drummer Stu left the band in 2005 and was replaced by Phil Tolfree. The band released their second album Desolation in 2006. Following the release, they went on tour in England at the end of the year.
Another album entitled Greed Filth Abuse Corruption was released on March 25, 2008 in Europe and on April 15, 2008 in the USA.
On November 12, 2010, Burning Skies announced their breakup on their official Facebook profile. Since the article only contained the word "dead" and initially no further statement from the band followed, the fans could only speculate about the meaning and seriousness of this statement. This became superfluous when another article appeared in March of the following year in which the band's last gig was announced. This took place on June 11, 2011 in Bristol , England .
As a reason for the breakup, the band stated in a comment to their fans that the timing felt right after 9 years and that the continuation would be logistically impossible anyway, since all band members lived in different parts of Europe (original quote: “Sorry guys, after 9 years it just feels like the right time plus we're all in different parts of europe so it's logistically impossible. ").
style
A characteristic of the band is the musical brutality through the combination of classic Death Metal and Grindcore elements, which according to Laut.de was even increased on the second album.
