Crosscut is a German alternative metal band. Stylistically, the band moves in the areas of rock , metal and crossover .

Band history

Crosscut was founded in the summer of 1992 by Frank Holtmann and Holger Czysch. In January 1997 Christian Bussmann joined them. Shortly afterwards the demo Mindgroove was published . Patrick Sommer heard the band at one of their gigs and then applied as a singer there. That was his entry at Crosscut in April 1999. Together they released the EP Spit the Fire in December 1999 . Then Björn Wolf became aware of the band and in February 2000 he was accepted as a full member after a few guest appearances.

In October 2000, a record deal with the noble label FAME Recordings followed, which immediately resulted in the first video shoot for Spit the Fire and in connection with which Crosscut produced the album God Given Time , which was released in July 2001. After the tour that followed and the pre-production of the album Nonesizefitsall in February 2002, Patrick Sommer left the band in the spring. In the summer of 2002 there were some changes in the line-up, so Timo Zilian came on as singer, while Sami Bouhari replaced Christian Bußmann on bass.

In the new formation, the band began in September 2002 with the recording of the new album Nonesizefitsall . The release followed in January 2003. A year later the album Director's Cut was released , a mixture of Nu-, Thrash Metal and Hardcore . The band went on an extensive tour to accompany the CD, which also crossed the border with Poland to the famous Woodstock Festival stop and to appearances at the With Full Force Festival and the Vainstream Rockfest .

In 2010 a new EP was recorded with the usual line-up, but the band fell apart over the production. At the end of 2012 the longtime singer Timo Zilian got out and made room at the microphone for the guitarist Frank Holtmann, who until then only acted as a background singer. After a short reorientation phase and with the new guitarist Reina Schauff on board, this EP was recorded again in 2013 and published and distributed independently in 2014.
