Youth of Today is an American hardcore band from New York City .
Band history
Youth of Today was founded in 1985 by Ray Cappo (vocals) and John “Porcell” Porcelly (guitar), both of whom were members of the NYHC band Violent Children . At the time the band's formation, the original were Hardcore - Straight-Edge -Bands like Minor Threat , SSD or DYS already disintegrated, and Youth of Today released the second wave and the zenith of Straight Edge in 1988 from. According to Cappo, the band wanted "a name that was as simple as possible, typical for hardcore" and decided on "Youth of Today". A song by the New York hardcore band The Abused had the same name, and the phrase was also used in lyrics by the Avengers and Cause for Alarm . The band was the first to introduce a vegetarian lifestyle as part of Straight Edge with the song No More . The band broke up in 1990. In 2004 they gave a short revival, only to go their separate ways for five years. They officially exist again since 2010.
