history

The band was founded in 1999 as a solo project by Daniel Jakobi. After the first material had been recorded, Timo Claas, Johannes Pitz and Daniel Benner joined the band in 2000, which from then on called itself Lay Down Rotten . With this line-up, the two demos were recorded on their own. In 2003 the debut album was recorded, which was released on the small Schwalmstadt music label Remission Records , before they went on tour together with the music bands Meatknife and Gorezone in spring 2004. In the same year, the second album entitled "Cold Constructed" was recorded and released shortly afterwards in 2005. The album received good reviews from the music press and was subsequently promoted by the band through numerous live performances. The subsequent third album, Lay Down Rotten opened a record deal with the music label Metal Blade Records . Shortly thereafter, long-time guitarist Daniel Benner left the band. He was soon replaced by Nils Förster. Both guitarists can be heard on the 2007 album Reconquering the Pit .

In February 2015, the band announced on their Facebook page that they were planning to break up in June of the same year. The reasons given were "different goals" of the individual band members, which made it impossible for the band to continue.

style

Musically, the band moves in the field of old school death metal . Well-known bands of this genre such as Bolt Thrower , Hypocrisy or older works by Obituary are also given as influences , but the musicians are also influenced by Thrash Metal bands.
