Wenceslas of Austria
Archduke Wenceslas of Austria (born March 9, 1561 in Wiener Neustadt , † September 22, 1578 in Madrid ) was a member of the House of Habsburg and in 1577, at the age of 16, became Grand Prior of the Order of Malta in Castile .
Wenceslas was the eighth son of the Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire Maximilian II (1527–1576) and his wife and cousin (first degree), Infanta Maria of Spain (1528–1603), eldest daughter of Emperor Charles V and Isabella von Portugal .
Wenceslaus died on September 22, 1578 in Madrid and was buried in Chapel 9 of the Pantheon of the Infants in the Real Sitio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial .
