Lumsk (Norwegian / Danish for “insidious”) is a Norwegian folk metal band from Trondheim . It combines traditional Norwegian folklore with rock and metal .
history
The debut album Åsmund Frægdegjevar was released in August 2003 by Tabu Recordings. The reaction of the media was mostly positive and so the album was soon licensed in other countries such as USA / Canada / Mexico ( Candlelight Records ), Russia (Fono) and Brazil (Haunted Music). The band has since played at major festivals such as Sweden Rock Festival and The Inferno Festival .
The album Troll followed in 2005 . The production was complex, so in addition to the seven-person line-up, other guest musicians were involved, including a string quartet, Andreas Elvenes ( The 3rd and the Mortal ) as a singer, brass section from the Trondheim jazz scene, etc. The album reached number 18 in the Norwegian top 40 album charts.
Lumsk made a similar effort when it came to recording its successor, Det vilde kor , which appeared at the end of February 2007 , and they also worked with a choir (title Skærgaardsø ).
The lyrics of the albums are all in Norwegian . The lyrics do not come from the band itself, but from respected writers (for example Birger Sivertsen and his wife Kristin, Knut Hamsun etc.). In terms of content, Norwegian myths , sagas and legends as well as nature experiences are processed.
